Owens Park

Owens Park is the historic heart of the University of Manchester's Fallowfield Campus — a catered hall that housed 1,056 students across five blocks including a landmark tower, completed in the 1960s and closed in 2021. The tower and surrounding blocks, familiar to generations of Manchester students, are now being demolished as part of a £400 million Fallowfield Campus regeneration.

Viridis Living — a consortium of Graham Construction, Equitix, and Derwent FM — secured reserved matters planning consent for the redevelopment covering Owens Park, Oak House, and Woolton Hall. The programme will deliver up to 3,300 modern student bedrooms across the campus, bringing total Fallowfield capacity to 5,400 beds, with enabling works underway and main construction targeted from early 2026.

Phased handover will allow students to move into new homes between 2026 and 2030. The redevelopment prioritises greener, more sustainable accommodation aligned with the university's commitment to safe, inclusive, high-quality student living in one of Manchester's most established student neighbourhoods.
