Overview
Parade Green is Unite Students' 887-bed scheme on James Wolfe Road in Oxford's Cowley area, opened for the 2019/20 academic year. The site previously housed British Telecom operations and, before that, army barracks — original stone boundary walls from the barracks era remain along the northern and eastern edges.
RG Group delivered the development across 14 blocks ranging from three to five storeys, with DMWR Architects drawing on Oxford's historic college quadrangles for the masterplan. Practical completion was achieved in July 2019 following an 87-week build programme, at a total development cost of approximately £73 million.
All bedrooms are en suite, arranged in cluster flats of five to ten students with shared kitchens and living space. Communal facilities include a gym, cinema room, roof terrace, outdoor sports court, games area, and dedicated study space. The scheme operates under a 25-year nominations agreement with Oxford Brookes University, extending Unite's Oxford portfolio to 1,350 beds. The development targeted BREEAM Excellent, incorporating CHP plant, PV panels, and LED lighting throughout.
