Weave Living has taken a significant step in its expansion within the Australian market by acquiring a fully operational purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) property located in Ultimo, Sydney. This acquisition paves the way for the introduction of their Campus brand to the Australian educational landscape, enhancing their portfolio in a prime area that is a hub for academic excellence.
The Acquisition Details
The newly acquired development is strategically situated in the heart of Sydney’s premier education precinct, situated closely to both the University of Technology Sydney and the University of Sydney. This acquisition represents Weave Living’s second property in Sydney, following their previous greenfield project in Glebe, which is set to commence construction in October this year under their Suites brand.
Weave Living’s Strategic Vision
According to Sachin Doshi, Founder and Group CEO of Weave Living, the company has a distinctive vertically integrated model that is backed by sophisticated proprietary digital platforms. This innovative approach distinguishes them in Australia’s living sector, which is notably fragmented and inadequately served operationally. The Ultimo property is slated for a comprehensive staged redesign and repositioning beginning in September of this year, demonstrating Weave Living’s commitment to enhancing the quality of student accommodation.
Future Developments
In addition to the Ultimo property, Weave Living is set to break ground on its inaugural project in Sydney in October—a greenfield studio living development in Glebe that is anticipated to begin operations in the second quarter of 2028. This site was secured in late 2025, marking Weave Living’s entry into the Australian market.
Growing Team and Market Potential
Since establishing its presence in Australia last year and opening a dedicated Sydney office in early 2026, Weave Living has significantly expanded its local team. This team comprises seasoned professionals across various sectors including acquisitions, development, operations, and finance. With additional team members poised to join in the coming months, the company is well-prepared to scale its project pipeline and forge vital capital partnerships in Australia.
Capital Interest and Future Prospects
The Australian living sector remains structurally fragmented and operationally underserved, presenting numerous opportunities for growth. Weave Living has reported a robust interest in capital partnerships from both domestic and international investors, and they are positioned to announce their first institutional capital partnership in Australia in the near future.
