McLaren Property has successfully obtained planning consent for a significant redevelopment project located at 285 Bath Street, which is situated in the bustling heart of Glasgow. This initiative will see the transformation of an outdated commercial building into a modern, purpose-built student accommodation facility featuring 208 beds. Designed by the renowned Scottish architecture studio Manson’s, the development will rise to 13 storeys and will incorporate a range of amenities including a small coffee shop on the ground floor, a gym, cinema room, games room, lounge areas, a private dining space, and study lounges. McLaren is aiming for the development to achieve BREEAM Excellent and EPC A ratings, reflecting their commitment to sustainability.

David Atherton, the divisional managing director at McLaren Property, expressed his satisfaction with the support received from committee members and officers for their vision of this site. He noted that Glasgow stands as one of the UK’s most attractive student markets, housing several top-ranking universities and boasting the fourth largest student population in the UK, which includes a robust international cohort. This highlights the significance of the project within the context of the UK PBSA market.
