Muse, the nationwide placemaker, has made a significant addition to its Yorkshire and Northeast team by appointing Max King as the new Director of Project Management. Max rejoins Muse after having previously served as the Senior Project Director for the North West team for five years. During his time away, he held the position of Director of Projects at Latimer by Clarion. His return to Muse comes at a pivotal time for the region, which is seeing a strong pipeline of ambitious regeneration projects supported by skilled professionals and trusted partnerships. King expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I’m delighted to be returning to Muse and joining the Yorkshire and North East team at such an important point for the region. There is a strong pipeline of ambitious regeneration projects, backed by talented people and trusted partnerships, creating a real opportunity to deliver places that generate lasting economic and social value.”
Leadership in Placemaking
In his new capacity, Max will focus on delivering major placemaking initiatives across Muse’s rapidly growing Yorkshire and Northeast portfolio. This portfolio includes significant projects such as Bradford City Village, East Bank in Hull, the Durham Innovation District, the Baltic Quarter in Gateshead, and a Strategic Regeneration Partnership in Wakefield. Recently, Muse also announced a partnership with Sunderland City Council related to the Sunniside development. Max’s extensive experience spans various forms of housing tenure as well as large-scale town and city centre revitalisation, which will be crucial in advancing these projects.
Regional Growth and Community Impact
Over the past 18 months, Muse’s Yorkshire and Northeast team has expanded significantly, attracting talent from various regions. Simon Dew, the Regional Managing Director at Muse, commented on the importance of this moment for the revitalisation of the area, emphasising that local communities are at the forefront of their initiatives. He noted, “Our Yorkshire and Northeast team has grown considerably over the last 18 months, attracting talent from across the country. This is a watershed moment for the revitalisation of the region’s towns and cities with local communities at the heart of everything we do.” Max’s understanding of Muse’s long-term, place-led approach, combined with his technical expertise, positions him well to make a substantial impact.
Future Directions
As Director of Project Management, King will be instrumental in driving the delivery of current and future projects, ensuring that all efforts are coordinated and of high quality. The focus will be on creating well-connected, sustainable places designed with the needs of the community in mind. Max remarked, “By combining experience, collaboration and a clear focus on delivery, we can turn ambition into tangible outcomes for the communities we serve.” His wider market experience will be vital as Muse continues to support Local Authority partners, striving to create developments that have a socio-economic impact that extends beyond the immediate area.
