Domis Construction has recently shared new images showcasing the construction progress at the Whitworth Street West purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) being developed for Fusion Students. Announced in August 2025, Fusion Group’s ambitious plan involves the construction of 826 PBSA apartments located at 10-12 Whitworth Street West in the heart of Manchester.
The Development Overview
The project site was originally acquired by Tri7, which is now part of Fusion, for £16 million in 2024 after the Vision Manchester SPV entered administration. The initial Vision project was set to be a £125 million 35-storey tower featuring 327 apartments. However, Fusion decided to shift the focus towards PBSA, reimagining the site to better meet the needs of the student population.
Amenities and Sustainability Features
The Whitworth Street West development will feature a diverse mix of studio apartments and cluster living arrangements, distributed across an impressive 38-storey structure. Residents will benefit from a range of modern amenities, including social lounges, study areas, a well-equipped gym, a cinema, private dining rooms, and a 24-hour reception service. Designed by the renowned architectural firm Corstorphine & Wright, the scheme prioritises energy efficiency and sustainability, employing environmentally friendly materials and low-carbon technologies. Notably, the development aims to achieve a BREEAM rating of Excellent, underscoring its commitment to sustainability.
Current Progress and Future Developments
As final touches are being applied to both the amenities and exterior spaces, Domis Construction is excited to showcase some of the completed areas that have already been delivered. The project is in its final stages, and it is inspiring to witness the original vision come to fruition, alongside the high standards of finish being achieved by the Domis team and their wider supply chain. Future updates on the completion of this significant development will be eagerly anticipated.
