With the recent approval of Gateway 2, GMI Construction Group has officially begun the construction of a new purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) project in Manchester. This development, which is a collaboration between Alumno and Invesco Real Estate, will feature a 261-bed residential block located off Moss Lane East, with an aim to complete the project ahead of the 2027 academic year.

The planning permission for this significant venture was granted in 2023, following a collaborative effort by Cityside and Alumno. Notably, Cityside exited the project last year, allowing Invesco to step in as the owner of the site, while Alumno took on the responsibility for its delivery. The ambitious nine-storey residential block will comprise a total of 261 beds, including 207 cluster bedrooms and 54 studio apartments, spread across an impressive 50,000 square feet. The development is designed to enhance the local environment, with a listed Georgian villa being repurposed as an amenity hub.
